Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the accuracy, completeness and integrity of the company's financial information.
- Manage general ledger activities, including journals, cost allocations and monthly reconciliations.
- Support and oversee the Accounts Payable function, ensuring invoices are processed accurately and efficiently and supplier relationships and accounts are well maintained.
- Coordinate Accounts Receivable activities and provide broader support across the finance function as required.
- Monitor cash flow and contribute to forecasting, budgeting and effective cash flow management.
- Prepare and lodge BAS, PAYG, payroll tax and superannuation obligations accurately and within required deadlines.
- Support monthly and annual financial reporting processes, ensuring information is accurate and deadlines are consistently achieved.
- Investigate discrepancies, identify the root cause of issues and take a proactive approach to resolving accounting matters.
- Partner with the CFO on financial reporting, analysis and projects designed to improve business performance.
- Build strong relationships with operational teams and provide practical financial guidance and support.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen finance processes, systems and internal controls as the organisation continues to grow.
- Develop your leadership skills with the longer-term opportunity to lead, mentor and manage a team of accounting professionals.
What You'll Bring
- A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
- At least 4 years of accounting experience, ideally gained within a service-based or operational environment.
- Strong Accounts Payable experience.
- Some previous experience with supervisory / team lead experience preferred
- A strong sense of ownership and pride in delivering accurate, reliable financial information to management.
- Experience working with accounting systems; Xero experience is preferred.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organisation and time management skills.
- Sound knowledge of Australian accounting standards and taxation requirements.
- A natural problem-solver who enjoys investigating issues and finding practical solutions.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships across different areas of the business.
- A proactive, positive and hands-on approach, with the curiosity and drive to keep learning.
