Our Client, an innovative leader in property development and construction based in  Darwin , Northern Territory is seeking a Group Payroll Officer to join the team.
  
About the Role & Responsibilities:
  
This Darwin-based role will manage end-to-end payroll processing across multiple entities within the Group, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and timely delivery of payroll services while providing valuable workforce reporting and insights.
  
  • Process payroll accurately and on time across all Group entities
  • Manage payroll changes including new starters, terminations, timesheets, pay adjustments, and off-cycle payments
  • Calculate final pays and complete payroll requirements for employee departures
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including tax, banking, and payroll information
  • Prepare payroll journals, reconciliations, accruals, and general ledger entries
  • Process payroll payments, including banking files and related transactions
  • Prepare and lodge payroll compliance requirements, including PAYG, superannuation, IAS, and workers compensation reporting
  • Support end-of-financial-year payroll activities, including reconciliations, STP finalisation, and audit requirements
  • Prepare payroll and workforce reports for Finance, HR, and management
  • Maintain payroll systems and ensure data accuracy
  • Identify and implement improvements to payroll processes and reporting
  • Maintain payroll procedures and documentation to support compliance
  • Respond to payroll enquiries from employees and managers
  • Work closely with Finance and People & Culture to ensure accurate payroll processing and reporting
  
To be successful for this role, you will need the following:
  
  • Experience processing payroll across multiple departments or business entities.
  • Experience managing payroll for approximately 300 employees, with exposure to weekly, fortnightly, and monthly pay cycles highly regarded.
  • Exposure to Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions is desirable.
  • Previous payroll experience within the construction and/or hospitality industries is advantageous.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships.
  • Sound knowledge of payroll legislation, modern awards, and enterprise agreements.
  • A proactive approach with a continuous improvement mindset and a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years' payroll experience in a similar role.
