About the Role: 

As an Irrigation Fitter, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and installation of commercial irrigation systems. You will also perform inspections, program controllers, maintain tools and equipment, and provide excellent service to the community. This role offers the opportunity to work across multiple parks, gain hands-on experience with modern irrigation systems, and contribute to the City’s high-quality public spaces.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine maintenance, repairs, and modifications of irrigation systems
  • Inspect and test commercial irrigation systems
  • Program irrigation controllers to meet operational requirements
  • Operate small plant and equipment safely
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and machinery
  • Liaise with supervisors, other City units, and respond to public enquiries
  • Report field conditions that may pose risks to public or sporting users
  • Share knowledge and mentor others as required
  • Comply with all City policies, procedures, and relevant legislation
Skills & Experience:
  • Experience in commercial irrigation system operation and maintenance
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and in a team
  • C Class vehicle licence
  • A recent National Police Clearance (<3 months)
  • Capable of physical manual labour and a proactive approach to change
  • Knowledge of Work Health and Safety practices, including hazard identification
  • May be required to work in high traffic/congested areas
  • First Aid certification (Desirable)
  • Knowledge of bore, pump, and motor systems (Desirable)
  • May be required to work in high traffic/congested areas.
