CoreStaff Darwin have a permanent Full Time Opportunity in the Civil Construction Industry for a Project Manager, based in Darwin Northern Territory.

About the Role & Responsibilities:
  
The Project Manager is responsible for strategically managing all aspects of our clients projects from project contract award, through to execution and close-out.
  
You’ll be responsible for managing people, processes, budgets, and timelines to ensure high-quality outcomes that align with company objectives and comply with relevant legislation and client requirements.
  
Project Organisational
  • Manage end-to-end project delivery, ensuring alignment with scope, budget, timeline, and quality targets.
  • Monitor progress and proactively adjust resources, schedules, and financials to stay on track.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to optimise project outcomes.
  • Ensure all company and client-specific systems and procedures are correctly applied on site.
  • Collaborate with senior management to develop solutions that benefit both the project and the business.
  
Commercial, Procurement and Contract Management
  • Oversee the performance of subcontractors and suppliers, driving improvements where needed.
  • Manage procurement processes and ensure contractual compliance, including handling variations, extensions of time (EOTs), and claims.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and review contractual documents (e.g. Subcontract Agreements, Progress Claims).
  • Review and approve supplier/subcontractor invoices, including capturing retention to be held.
  • Oversee review process to ensure Subcontractor compliance e.g. having appropriate licenses, insurances etc. prior to starting works.
  • Ensure warranty and dispute claims for the project are addressed as soon as practical.
  • Ensure legislative and regulatory compliance.
  
Team & Staff Management
  • Lead and mentor project teams, ensuring clear delegation and accountability.
  • Allocate resources effectively and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment with a focus on project excellence and safety.
  • Provide detailed progress reports and insights to senior stakeholders.
  
Financial
  • Monitor project budgets and implement cost-control measures to maintain profitability.
  • Forecast project costs and cash flow with accuracy and diligence.
  • Review and validate financial reports and ensure positive project cash flow.
  • Manage invoicing and follow up on client payments to maintain timely cash collection
  
Risk, OHSE, Quality
  • Develop and implement project-specific risk mitigation plans.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS requirements and lead by example in promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Oversee quality assurance processes, including inspections and audits.
  • Monitor site activities through regular safety meetings and equipment checks.
  • Perform overall quality control of the work (budget, schedule, plans, personnel’s performance) and report regularly on project status.
  
Stakeholder and Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and regulators.
  • Ensure effective communication and collaboration across all stakeholders.
  • Manage industrial relations requirements and ensure compliance on-site.
  
  
To be successful for this role, you will need the following:
  
  • Degree in Engineering or a relevant tertiary qualification (TAFE or trade background also considered).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in delivering infrastructure/construction projects, ideally in civil engineering.
  • Proven experience in contracts administration and project procurement.
  • Current White Card and driver’s licence.
  • Ability to obtain DCSI and Defence clearances.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and WHS legislation.
  • Proficient in project management software (e.g. MS Project, Microsoft Suite), ERP systems (e.g. Pronto), and construction platforms (e.g. Procore, Aconex).
  • Skilled in budgeting, scheduling, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail under pressure.
  • Hands-on leadership style with a proactive and solutions-focused mindset.
  • Resilient, adaptable, and committed to delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Strong team player who values collaboration and continuous improvement.
