About The Job
Our valued client based in Richmond area is seeking a Research Assistant to support the research and breeding of hoverflies for crop pollination. This hands-on role involves regular work in a breeding shed, together with occasional field work placing hoverflies in crops.
A significant part of this role is performed in a breeding shed where strong odours may be present. Interested candidates will have an opportunity to inspect the work environment as part of the recruitment process.

You will be responsible for undertaking a variety of tasks that includes but not limited to;
- Feed hoverflies and maintain breeding cages.
- Clean cages and keep breeding areas hygienic and orderly.
- Mix and prepare feed in accordance with established procedures.
- Assist with research and breeding activities.
- Undertake occasional field work, including placing hoverflies in crops.
- High attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures consistently.
- A practical, reliable approach to hands-on research and animal-care tasks.
- Ability to work safely around bees, which may occasionally be present.
- A forklift licence is desirable and may be considered when determining the starting pay rate.
- Hold a current driver's license.
- Forklift licence an advantage.
