Are you hands-on, safety-focused, and looking to build a career in the minerals testing and analysis industry? We’re seeking motivated Sample Preparation Technicians to support sample processing and fire assay preparation in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
About the Role You will be responsible for preparing mineral samples for analysis and assisting with fire assay processes. This role suits someone who enjoys practical, physical work and takes pride in accuracy, consistency, and safe work practices.
Shift Pattern This position operates on an alternating shift roster, cycling between:
- Day Shift: 8:00am – 2:00pm
- Afternoon Shift: 2:00pm – 12:00am
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, sort, label, and track incoming samples
- Crush, split, dry, and pulverise samples using specialised laboratory equipment
- Assist with fire assay tasks, including:
- Weighing samples
- Mixing and preparing flux
- Preparing crucibles
- Loading and unloading furnaces (supervised or independent depending on experience)
- Operate manual and automated equipment safely
- Maintain a clean, organised, and compliant work area
- Meet production targets and follow strict safety and QA procedures
Previous sample preparation work especially with fire assay experience (highly valued), but training can be provided for candidates with strong potential.

- Can lift up to 20kg and stand for extended periods
- Have strong attention to detail and can follow procedures accurately
- Work well independently and collaboratively
- Can pass a drug & alcohol test
- Are comfortable rotating between day and afternoon shifts
- Full training, including opportunities to develop fire assay competencies
- Supportive team environment with a strong safety culture
- Potential for overtime
