CGH GROUP ACQUIRES DOWNING TEAL

CGH Group, one of Australia’s largest privately owned, recruitment and human resources consulting firms, is excited to announce it has entered into an agreement to acquire Downing Teal (DT), a leader in specialist mining, construction and defence recruitment, as of 1st April 2019.

Founded in 1966, Downing Teal is a leader in executive search, professional recruitment and labour hire services to the mining, construction and defence industries through its Downing Teal and DT Workforce brands.

CGH Group operates 5 specialist brands; CoreStaff, Beilby Recruitment, OPRA Psychology Group, Goal Indigenous Services and Vmac Employment Solutions. These brands provide a full suite of recruitment and HR services including labour hire and workforce management, executive search and permanent recruitment, professional contracting, and industrial/organisational psychology services from 18 locations around Australia.

This transaction adds significant value and opportunity to both businesses and a broader range of services to our clients. Over the next few months the Downing Teal business will be integrated into the broader CGH Group. A number of offices will merge into cobranded premises and new offices in Gladstone and Brisbane CBD with expand the CGH national footprint to 20.

Recognising the exceptional strength of both the Beilby and Downing Teal names, with a combined experience of over 100 years, Downing Teal and Beilby will merge to become Beilby Downing Teal. With over 50 staff in 7 offices, the new business will be one of Australia’s largest providers of executive search, professional recruitment and contracting services.

The DT Workforce business in Western Australia will merge into CoreStaff making it one of the largest providers of labour hire services in the state. As both businesses are key suppliers of labour hire to the WA mining industry, and share a number of key clients, this is a natural fit. Clients and candidates will continue to receive the high level of service they have come to expect from both CoreStaff and DT Workforce.

Mr John Downing, Managing Director and major shareholder of Downing Teal, is excited by this new opportunity. “It will provide significant career opportunities for our exceptional team and extended services to our loyal clients through the additional CGH brands and new regional reach.” Mr Downing, who has been with Downing Teal since 1971, said he looks forward to joining the CGH Group in a new Senior Executive role.

Rob Blenkinship, CEO and Co-Founder of CGH Group said he is humbled by the opportunity to partner with Downing Teal and is looking forward to working closely with Mr Downing and his great team nationally. Mr Blenkinship said the CGH Group is committed to ensuring that all Group companies continue to provide the highest standard and depth of services our clients require, now and long into the future.

Working in recruitment I am fortunate to gain insight into an individual’s career ambition, approach, challenges, and fear. In some regards, the conversations have remained constant pre/post COVID19 though extremes are amplified in an economic and employment environment where there is limited opportunity. For the team member who has been years without a performance and development review, let alone a salary review, concern is heightened. When employees have had to reduce pay, accept reduced working hours or be placed on unpaid leave, concern is replaced by anxiety and fear.

Being unprepared may leave you feeling anxious as you approach your interview and could demonstrate a lack of interest in the organisation and role. Over preparing, whilst it seems like the logical thing to do, could potentially be your down-fall. A question outside of your extensive preparation may just throw you off track.

Your CV is the key to opening the door to your next opportunity. In order to open up the best opportunities, your key needs to be in good shape. You might have some amazing skills and experience that have perfectly shaped you for the next big opportunity in your career – but if you don’t craft a key that fits, that door will still remain firmly closed.
